8 December 2018

Last Wednesday was the launch of our 'meet your greens' initiative, the first in a series of events where Chiltern's residents have a chance to meet their local Green Party.

We booked a space at the Queens' head pub in Chesham and were delighted by the number of people who came out to meet us on a cold and blustery December evening. It looked like we were in danger of 'standing room only' as the night progressed but a quick rearranging of the furniture allowed us to accommodate everybody. There were loads of new faces at the event and a dedicated appearance from our longest standing member who joined the party when it was formed in 1989.

We were particularly delighted to welcome some younger Greens who are concerned about Brexit and had been enticed to join us after hearing Cllr Alan Booth speak recently in favour of the People's Vote.

It was great to see so many new faces and to hear people's concerns and ideas. Although we all had different stories about why we got involved in the Green Party, there was a strong unifying theme - that we are all deeply concerned about the Climate Emergency, the lack of action from the Government and our own desires to do more in whatever way we can.

Chiltern Green Party is determined to meet this need head-on by raising the profile of Green Politics across our 3 constituencies of Beaconsfield, Chesham & Amersham and High Wycombe and ultimately to elect local Greens to make a real difference.

With many more events planned for next year, local Greens are sure to feel more connected and empowered in 2019 than ever before.
