Green Parish Councillors Rachel Horton and Zoe Hatch have been working hard down in Taplow and Burnham to develop environmental initiatives in their parish. They are delighted to announce they have secured a grant for an eco audit in Taplow Parish. Both councils have developed environmental programs and these audits will highlight where the greatest improvements are needed and help focus the work going forward. Little Chalfont
At the November Little Chalfont Parish Council meeting, our Green party councilor, Doug Silverstone proposed and received an agreement that the council would continue to host and support the Little Chalfont environment cafes both by providing a venue and funding, throughout 2023. Further good news is that the council agreed to give their support to local residents to set up Sustainable Little Chalfont -https://www.sustainablelittlechalfont.org/, an organisation set up to promote action on climate change to local residents. Finally, in a review of their bank accounts, the council agreed to switch to ethical banking. Impacting Bucks Council
Last autumn Councillor Catherine Bunting launched a petition calling on Bucks to stop putting harmful sewage into our rivers and waterways. This hugely popular petition resonated widely with the public and received a phenomenal 1500 signatures in the first 6 days.
The Transport, Environment, and Climate Change Select committee met at Bucks Council this week to discuss the attached update following Catherine’s petition and a call from the Impact Alliance demanding improvements from water companies. Cllr Stuart Wilson (Impact) gave thanks to the petition raised by Catherine Bunting as it was clear the show of public support moved the council to act. This is a great example of how Greens can make a positive impact. Catherine would like to thank the local Chiltern Green Party members who took the call to action and supported in gaining physical signatures to add to this online petition.
